For my first three days I am staying at Tantur -- an eccumenical retreat center just outside of Jerusalem near the Bethlehem check point. I arrived in time for lunch with the other guests who are staying here as well and found out that two of the people at my table are CRC pastors from Holland, MI here to study Modern Hebrew. Small world!
With just a couple of hours of sleep on the plane, I intend to get busy doing my homework and try to stay up the rest of the day to get my body adjusted to the time change.
Thank you for your prayers for safe travel. We read Psalm 121 yesterday morning as a family before I left, and God certainly has "watched over my coming and going".
I invite you to experience this sabbatical together with me. With this blog I share my experiences and will invite you to learn along with me. Join me in reading and reflecting together so we can learn together how to apply Jesus' radical teaching from the Beatitudes to our lives today.
