After lunch today three of us made our way over to the Israel Museum. If we were going to get there, today was the day since our future free days don't coincide with when the museum is open.
There are so many archeological treasures there! In the 4 hours we were there we glanced at the 50:1 scale model of Jerusalem at the time it was destroyed (but it was outdoors...remember 105 degrees), glanced at the Dead Sea Scrolls and then spent the rest of the time in the archeological section.
It isn't usually very interesting to show pictures from a museum so I didn't take too many. I will share one (and another one with the written information) which shows a first century ankle bone with a nail through it from someone who was crucified. I found the diagram of how this person was crucified to be interesting. (The giant apple core picture is just a bonus picture for fun!)
Tomorrow is exam day, so it is off to study!
I invite you to experience this sabbatical together with me. With this blog I share my experiences and will invite you to learn along with me. Join me in reading and reflecting together so we can learn together how to apply Jesus' radical teaching from the Beatitudes to our lives today.

Sleep well, Pastor Tony! And I know you'll do well on your exam too.
ReplyDeleteYour posts have been such a blessing -- intriguing, informative, pictorial, poetic, helpful, and humorous.
I've also benefited from reading a book you earlier recommended: "Warriors Don't Cry" by Melba Pattillo Beals. It's so fine that you've already heard confirmation from someone there about the connection between your trip to Israel and the coming one to the South USA.
Thanks for the invitation to accompany you through this daily journal to help us discover "What Makes Your Heart Sing?"
Looking forward to more,
Joy
